Volunteer Opportunities at Serenity Grace Farm
Horse Leader- Lead able-bodied riders and riders with disabilities during lessons at Serenity Grace Farm, both in ring and on trail. Primary concern is with the horse and its behavior, as well as safety awareness at all times. Give commands to the horse while also promoting rider independence. Successful completion of Horse Handler/Leader Training and confidence around horses are a must.
Side Walker- Walk alongside horse and rider during lessons at Serenity Grace Farm, both in ring and on trail. Primary concern is the rider. Assist the instructor, encourage the rider, keep the rider safe, work as a team with other side walkers and leader. Consistent emotional and physical support, including physical holds (taught during training). Successful completion of training/orientation and good verbal/communication skills are a must.
Barn Maintenance/Farm Hand- Maintenance and upkeep of the facility are a crucial component of our program. Participation in bi-monthly ‘work’ days, or as you are available, to assist with the care of the facility, barn, grounds, and equipment. Work days include tasks such as mowing, mulching, weeding, pest control, trail maintenance, minor fence repairs, and other odd jobs. Lawn care or construction experience helpful, but not necessary!!
Fundraising/Special Events- Have an outgoing, motivating personality? Interested in marketing or promoting? If you are the kind of person who likes to get out in the community and share information, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! We are seeking individuals who are willing to ‘beat the streets’ to get our name, our program, and our fundraising goals out there.
We also need help with planning, organizing, and implementing several special events coming up throughout the year, including carnivals, special dinners/galas, and other seasonal fundraising events.
Throughout the year we also host special events for our volunteers as a token of appreciation for their time and hard work. We wouldn’t be able to make it without our volunteers, and we value all of those who are generous enough to give their time to us!! We hope you will consider joining our team to help us realize our goals and reach out to many, many more children and their families in our wonderful community!!
Our staff and volunteers are our strength and without them we would not be able to offer our service. They are important to the working of the farm due to the many behind-the-scenes activities required on a daily basis, from the care of the horses to the maintenance of the farm. We feel so strongly about our volunteers and staff that we will regularly have a staff and volunteer appreciation day. On these days we gather for a cookout and fellowship and maybe some brainstorming around a campfire or during a trail ride about future needs of the farm.
